MUNICIPAL PICTURES.
Saturday night’s programme Is one that should appeal to all lovers of pictures as both dramas are of more than ordinary interest and the comics are such as will make the most staid laugh. The star drama, “The House of Discord,” is a strong tale of a woman’s temptation aud tells how iu her youth the mother was saved from the fatal mistake by au accident, but it caused her years of separation from child and husband. It bad occurred primarily through her self-righteous sister-in-law’s domination aud interference. A like fate aud downfall threatened the daughter now reaching maturity. The mother’s insistence separated the child from her environment. Love aud understanding did the rest. The other drama, “Love of Beauty,” tells of Nellie Williams, who is far from being good looking, but with a beautiful character, devotes much of her time to Jim Ambrose, a young blind man. Eventually, she falls iu love with him and he in return thinks there can be none in the world so good aud beautiful. A specialist performs an operation on his eyes and Jim’s sight is restored. He raves over the beauty of his mother, of flowers and the glorious sunshine, but when a iromely housemaid is brought into the room he turns away with revulsion. This horrifies Nellie, what will be think when he sees her. Among the family friends is a great beauty, and on Introduction Jim thinks she must be Nellie, but finding it is not so he determines to find the girl of his heart. She is telling fairy tales to a bunch of children, but Jim cannot respond to her plain iace. He turns to Lucy, the beauty, but when he assists a blind beggar across the street she berates him for inattention to her. Ambrose then sees that beauty Is only skin deep and joyfully seeks happiness with the homely, but more worthy girl. The comics are, “Tommy’s Terrible Tricks,” “Two Men and a Book Store,” “Bloomer, Gladiator,” and “The Penalties of Reputation.”
The usual free matinee for children under 14 years will be held on Saturday afternoon, adults usual prices.
