HOCKEY.
There was a very good attendance of ladies at the meeting convened for the purpose of forming a Ladies Hockey Club, and it was decided to form a club to be called The Foxton Ladies Hockey Club. A large number handed in their names as members. The following officers were elected : President, Mrs R. Moore; vicepresidents, Mesdames Stiles, Healey and Perreau ; captain, Miss Hodgson ; vice-captain, Miss A. Bowe; secretary, Mrs A. M. Nye ; committee, Misses Hudson, Wanklyn and Alzdorf. It was decided to nominate a team in the Horowhenua Association’s competition. Yesterday afternoon the newlyformed men’s club played its first match against a Moutoa team. Considering this was the local players first appearance they gave a very creditable account of themselves, the game resulting in a win for Moutoa by one goal to nil. At the conclusion of the match the ladies indulged in some practice, A match has been arranged for next Wednesday on the local ground between a ladies team from Levin and the local team.
