MUNICIPAL PICTURES,
The star drama of 2000 ft. for Saturday evening is an exciting, emotional and convincing story dealing with hereditary lust for alcohol, running through six generations, and most faithfully portrayed in 1 ‘ The Fatal Legacy. ’ ’ Henry Halleck opens a sealed envelope on his wedding eve and reads the following letter left by his father: —“ My beloved son : For six generations the curse of our family has been a lust for drink. I signed the pledge on my wedding eve, fought the fight, and lost. May God bless and sustain you in the struggle.—Your Father/’ Henry signs the pledge and marries. Two years later he Is a widower with an infant sou. Twenty years later when Jack is married his father gives him the pledge and warning. Jack laughs and says he will never be tempted. His wife becomes seriously ill, and Jack must have something to steady his nerves, and leaves the house. On his return, his father is at the bedside —intoxicated, his wife is dead and bis father brokenhearted. Jack drifts from bad to worse, and at last determines to rob his father. Halleck sees the figure and fires. Jack staggers home wounded, and next morning his father finds him dead. He takes little Harry, his son home, promising to give him a training that will break the family curse. Seventeen years later, Harry is in love with Anna. Guy Forbes appears and falls madly in love with her. Harry forges a letter supposedly written by Guy intimating that he wishes to marry Anna for her money. The girl is stunned and promises to marry Harry. The marriage takes place, Harry signs the pledge, but at the wedding feast takes a glass of wine. That night, he tells Anna how he deceived her concerning Guy. Later, Harry is killed at a fox hunt. Guy, being exonerated, gains a promise for the day to come. The other dramas are “ The Lass that Loved a Sailor,” “ The Celestial Republic,” “The Honour ot the Force” and ’’Playmates.” The first is a powerful tale of the Sea, telling of an unjust accusation of murder and of the establishment of innocence, and punishment of the guilty. The others are all of a most interesting and absorbing description. The films “Topical Budget” and “ School Physical Drill ” are both full of instruction and interest. The comics are “A Sleepy Romance ” and “ The Winning Punch.” The former will awaken laughter of the heartiest description, whilst the latter shows a most amusing method of paying off a church debt.
