A concert and social will be held in the Presbyterian Sunday School Hall to morrow night. A capital programme has been arranged, and refreshments will be provided. James Ross, a married man with four or five children, was found dying on the road at Green Valley yesterday. He was taken to Duubank, but died before the doctor arrived. Deceased was a shepherd and had been driving a mob of sheep. Those responsible for the arrangements in connection with the Catholic social and dance held on Tuesday evening were gratified to see their labours rewarded by a large attendance and the enjoyable way in which the affair passed off. Songs were contributed during the evening by Mrs W. Teviotdale (2), Messrs S. B. Collins and B. Hooker (2), and chorus, “Once Again a Nation,” by the choir with Mr W. Hooker as soloist, these items being encored. The music was supplied by Mr W. Darkiu, and extras were kindly contributed by Miss Denihan and Mr S. B. Collins. The duties of M's.C. were carried out by Messrs M. Perreau and Sid. Dudson. Supper and an abundance of cool drinks were provided, and altogether a happy and sociable time was spent, dancing being continued until early morning. Mr R. T. Betty has received a consignment of the famous Marlow and Bostock boots and shoes for both sexes. Inspection is invited, when patrons will be convinced that quality, prices and selection are unsurpassed.* Perreau’s date scones arc a very popular dish for afternoon tea.
