ANOTHER WATERSIDE ASSAULT.
Auckland, March 17. Ou Friday evening an Arbitrationist watersider named Nicolas Saunders, who had had a strenuous argument with a Federations! watersider, was suddenly attacked from behind in a side street, knocked down by a blow from an iron bar, and brutally kicked. His assailant escaped by dodging through the railway yard. To-day, acting on inlormation received, two detectives proceeded to a lonely bay on Rangitoto Island in Hauraki Gulf, and there arrested Alfred Madigan, ou a charge of assault. Madigan was discovered lying in the bottom of a boat, and was much surprised by the appearance of detectives.
