SHANNON HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
The Horticultural Show aud Sale of Work, held under the management of the Shannon Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild, was held on Friday and Saturday last. From every point the function was a great success, the entries totalling 950—a record. The gross takings amounted to about £So. The points prize winners were as follows : Pot plants, Mrs Venn ; cut blooms, Mrs Galland ; fruit, Mrs Griffiths; garden produce, ■Mrs Galland ; farm produce, Mr Pigott; decorative, Mrs Gibson ; home industries, Mrs Carter ; cooking, Mrs R. Webb ; fancy work, Mrs Gibson. Miss Fanny Browne, Makerua, won Mr Jas. Whyte’s special for most points in girls sewing. Miss E. Swindlehurst, Shannon, won Mr Jas. Whyte’s special for most points in cookery (girls under 15). The judges were ; Mr Forster Pratt, P.N. ; Mr A. J. Shailer, P.N. ; Mr F. 0. Smith, Levin ; Mrs W. M, Clark, Levin ; Mrs Croucher, P.N. ; Mr D. W. Low, P.N. ; Mrs W. Law, Shannon; Miss M. Prouse, Levin. Moutoa School secured the following prizes : Sewing, 2 firsts, 1 second, 2 thirds ; farm produce, 4 firsts, 1 second ; writing, 1 first, 3 seconds, 2 thirds.
