ENTERTAINMENTS.

MUNICIPAL PICTURES. Dramatic, emotional, electrifying 1 is the description of the brilriant Patbe coloured drama, “A Fatal Love,” which is to be screened at the above pictures on Saturday evening. The opening scene shows the lovely garden of the Duchess Carelli, whose daughter, Regina, is being painted by Guido, a celebrated artist. The young couple fall in love, but their idyll is spoilt by the Duchess telling her daughter that she must marry Dorsani, the banker, to whom she owed a large sum of money. The girl is heart-broken over the prospects of marrying a man whom she does not care for, but filial duty prompts her to relinquish her love for the artist. The marriage takes place, and the financial ruin of the Duchess is averted. After the honeymoon, the banker Dorsani asks the artist to meet him in a friendly encounter with foils at the fencing display of their club. Both are experts with the foils, and they give a wonderfully dexterous exhibition before the fashionable gathering. The men, however, become gradually worked up to frenzy. The button at the tip of the artist’s foil is nearly bent off during the combat, and the artist, now thoroughly angered, breaks off the lip of bis foil, leaving a dagger-like point. The men cross swords again for the final bout, when, very suddenly, the artist mortally wounds his adversary. The other dramas are “Retribution,” and “The Mountain Mother” ; the former demonstrates in a tragic and dramatic manner how a fickle woman who coquettes with the honest love of a strong man finds she is playing with edged tools, while the latter teems with humanity, showing how a mother sacrifices her one chance of happiness for the sake of the daughter she loves. “The Topical Budget” Is full of animated snapshots on topical matters. “Lizards and Frogs” is a unique Patbe educational. “With the Aid of Phrenology,” “The Dream of two Swallows,” and “A Boy Wanted,” are all mirth provokers, each one being calculated to create roars of laughter. The scenic, “Rio de Janeiro,” is a beautiful panorama of the Queen City of South America.
