CRICKET.
Great interest is being evinced In the cricket carnival to be held in Victoria Park on Wednesday afternoon next, in aid of the local cricket club. The committee have all arrangements well in hand, ai d an enjoyable afternoon is promised all who attend. The costume cricket match, ladies v. men, will be one of the special features, and other events include tugs-of-war, obstacle and uoveltj races. The afternoon’s sport will commence at the park at 2.30 o’clock, and will be preceded by a procession through the street starting from the post office at two o’clock. Refreshments, soft drinks, fruit and confectionery will be obtainable on the ground, arrangements having been made with Mr M. Perreau to erect a marque for the purpose. A social and dance will be held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday evening, March sth, when the carnival trophies will be presented to the winners. If was at first intended to hold the social on Friday evening, but the date was changed in order not to clash with the Horticultural Society’s Show.
