MOUTOA NOTES.

(Own Correspondent)

Moutoa was favoured with beautiful weather yesterday, when the annual school picnic was held at Dr Wall’s corner. Where the people came from was a puzzle, but there must have beeu from 150 to 200 present, and they enjoyed themselves to the full. There were races for old and young, tugs-of-war, swinglug, skipping and other games. Towards the close of the day, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr A. Saunders, called upon the headmaster, Mr Gallaud, to distribute the prizes. Hearty cheers were given for the headmaster, the scholars who collected the funds, and the ladies. The local people maintained their reputation for liberality by contributing over £l2 towards the picnic. Over £9 was spent in prizes. . The catering was carried out by Mr Walls to the satisfaction of all.
