Auckland, Feb. iS. A daring theft is reported from Tirau. Two days ago a member of a private company, whose works are in the vicinity, with a bag in his possession containing about £SO in gold and a number of cheques, called at one of the business premises in the township. While there, he had occasion to go outside for a few minutes, and asked a friend to keep an eye on the bag.
