SALVATION ARMY HALL.
Our readers will have noticed a building in course of erection in the Avenue, near the Manawatu Hotel aud almost opposite the Methodist Church. It is the Salvation Army Hall. A few years ago the Array bombarded Foxton and their prospects for the establishment of a permanent corps was not looked upon as bright. The officers, however, stuck bravely to their work—not only in holding services, but in ministering to the sick and afflicted—until the public has recognised in the Army a desirable institution to have in the community and have responded to their call for assistance from time to time. The Masonic Hall has been rented by the Army for its meetings, but the officers, recognising that a hall of their own was essential to the successful carrying on of their work, secured a section and got headquarters to sanction the erection ot a building. The officers have pledged the Foxtou public to assist them to the tune of ,£2OO towards the required to defray the cost. We believe several local citizens have promised liberal donations and Captain Brown is here to endeavour to collect the balance. We are asked to point out that the special building appeal is being conducted in conjunction with the annual harvest festival appeal. We feel sure the local public will show their appreciation of the Army’s work By contributing liberally to the building fund.
