MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held last night. Present: Messrs Gower (chairman), Robinson, Barber and Easton.
The clerk reported tbait the over draft at the Bank of New Zealand was £SO 18s 4d. Accounts amounting to were passed for payment. The overseer reported as follows ; —“ I beg to report since last meeting having trimmed the side of main drain as far as Mr Bock’s boundary, also cleaned about 40 chains of Langley’s drain and five chains of the mile drain. The drain that requires attention first is the main drain from the diagonal to the Kari Kari, and after that Langley’s north of the mile drain, Kari Kari, north of main drain and the mile drain. All the other drains have a clear water course, but the sides are overgrown with grass and weeds. The main drain from Mr Gower’s boundary to the floodgates also wants attention, as a good quantity of weeds are growing in this section. From the Levin road to the junction with Langley’s and the diagonal drains is in good order. There are some of the fences along the drains that are a hindrance when trimming the sides. Mr Barber’s fence along the mile drain is down in .places, and the wires are in the drain, and a fence along Carter’s drain is overhanging, making it very awkward when trimming the sides.”
The matter of future work ou the diagonal drain was deferred until next meeting, in the meantime no work to be done on it. The Clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Barber and Carter in reference to fences overhanging drains. The Board rose at 9 p.m.
