MUNICIPAL PICTURES. Saturday night’s programme is well calculated to bring forth a good house as the star picture “ Czernowska ” is a thrilliug play of immense power. This story embraces the treachery of a governess, a powerful, unscrupulous woman, whose craving for gold dictates her couduc,t, She is engaged by Count Zaccine, who is a widower, to look after his two children, both of whom are of tender years. She sets out to capture the Count, and by her charms and her wiles she induces him to marry her. Then she tries to obtain his fortune. She decides to do away with him. She attempts his life, but her effort is frustrated. She tries again and again, but each time her success is intercepted by one who is a faithful servant of the Count. At last she tried and convicted—proved guilty by Count Zacciue’s devoted employee. The misguided Couuless fails to lay her bauds upou the Count’s gold and she ends her days in prison. The other dramas are “ Where Shore and Water Meet” and “ Over the Crib,” the former is an Edison film of great excellence, full ot humauily and of couspicious power, while the latter “ Oyer the,Crib ” is a particularly strong Lubiu picture the compelling power of which is not to be resisted. The comics are “The Amateur Juggler” and “The Suffragette Mluistrels ” the former is stated to be immensely lunuy and the latter though not musical very laughable, The scenic “ Funchal ” discloses a wealth of charming and entrancing views. That vvouderlully welcome magazine “ The Eclair Journal ” picturiugs of notable events from all Twer the world is always well received. A glorious comic by the well known Keystone Co, At “Twelve O’clock ” will cause an intense amount of merriment. Every member of this company is an artist of the highest rank and reputation, whose fame has already reached most of our readers. To glance at the names of the artists is sufficient to convince the most indifferent of the excellence and high musical ability of the Combination: Madame Wielaert, the distihguished dramatic operatic soprano, is a noted artist, being admittedly easily the first soprano in the Dominion: Herr Pechotscb, the famous versatile violin virtuoso, is renowned all over the world, and has been the honoured recipient of several Royal Commands ; Miss Seccombe, the charming contralto, is the possessor of a rich, rare voice of :uch exquisite timbre that- her popularity is unlimited; Mr Thomas Harris, the brilliant elocutionist and entertainer, is such an extremely gifted artist that his items hold his audiences completely from start to finish ; Herr Wielaert is a pianist of great ability, aud Madame Pechotscb as au accompaniste is unequalled for her sympathetic, skilful playing. Such a galaxy of taleut and ability should receive the strougest support, and only one opportunity will be given of hearing the company Saturday night next. Popular prices will be charged.
