GOOD HEALTH.

Good health is the finest a

in the world, but many people fail to obtain or retain it. M : - Charles A. Wilson. *a Auckland journalist has vvtmen an interesting book ot 50 pages on the subject of “Health, how to ob.ain and improve it." The boon is an endeavour to get c:jiv to first principles. Avoiding mere “fads" it shows the healing power of nature by means of fresh air, -pure water and exercise, allied with, the proper selection of foods. Patent medicines are unhesitatingly con detuned, and evidence is adduced to show that doctors and news papers alike are awake to the grave national danger by their indiscriminate use. There is an outspoken chapter in regard to doctors and their work, a refreshing change fiom the diatribes usually directed against the profession by laymen who write on health matters. Simple living is shown to be the 'secret of strength in body and mind. Illustrations are taken from the methods of Edison, Louis Coruaro, Chauncey M. Depevv, Horace Fletcher, Dr. Dewey, and others. The proper method of massage is given, together with a simple set of exercises and unconventional exercises for women. The care of children forms an important chapter, and the cure ot disease is a fitting conclusion. The book is vigorously written, and is intended to supply at the nominal price of one shilling the basis of an intelligent understanding of principles governing health, a matter of importance from the national as well as Irom the individual point of view. The book should secure a wide circle of readers.
