ENTERTAINMENTS.
MUNICIPAL PICTURES,
At the Towu Hall to-uight, in conjunction with the Municipal Pictures, the management have secured the services of Mr Frank May and Miss Millicent Mowbray, musical sketch artists and illustrated balladlsts. This clever duo have just completed a tour of New Zealand under the Henry Hayward management, so patrons can be sure of a musical treat. Re'erring to a recent entertainment, a Maslerton paper says:—“A packed house and smiling faces were the dominant features of the entertainment on Saturdry night, when Mr Frank Maj made his first appearance in illustrated songs. The slides for his first item were of “The Lovers’ Lane” style, and beautifully coloured. The words were very pretty, and the songs were nicely rendered by the singer, who is the possessor of a nicelymoderated baritone voice. This was especially noticeable in his rendering of the Irish verse of “John Bull’s Letter Bag,” when he introduced the brogue like “one of Erin’s sons himself.’* The song introduces the feelings of the Overseas Dominions of the British nation. Messages from Canada, America, Ireland and *
New Zealand are thrown on the screen whilst the singer is voicing the sentiments oi the nation, and when an exceptionally fine slide of H.M.S. New Zealand was projected, the applause with which young New Zealand greeted the Dominion’s gift to the British nation was deafening, and for a moment or two completely drowned the singer.”
