BOROUGH FINANCES.

The Borough Treasurer submilted the following report on the finances of the borough, at last night’s Council meeting :~ “I have to report that the following amounts have been received since last meeting, and placed to credit, viz., to district fund £478 12s 5*3, and to cemetery account £l2. ' The balances at the Bank of New Zealand, as per pass books on December Ist, were, District iund account, credit, £i,374 I s <! id, and to cemetery account, credit, £24 ss. The following is the position of the various accounts ; —Cemetery account, cr., £24 5s ; contractor’s deposit acc., cr., £4; gas works aco., cr., £2lO 10s 4d ; general acc., cr., £35 6s; Whirokino bridge loan acc., £l9 17s 8d ; roads and streets loan acc., cr., £75 iSs 7d ; Shannon bridge loan acc., cr., £ll 9s; Whirokino bridge No. 2 loan acc., cr., £ls 16s 3d ; roads and streets No. 2 loan acc., cr., £lO 14s nd; gas works loan acc., cr., £457 r6s 4d ; library acc., cr., £29 14s lod; reserves acc., cr., £IOO 2s lod ; sanitation acc., cr., £199 123 6d 1 Town Hall acc., cr,, £236 7s 2d, totalling ,£1,43* 113 sd. The Beach road loan account is £25 ns 4d at debit, leaving a balance of £1,406 os id. The balance of the accounts at the Bank of New Zealand, less unpresented cheques is £1,396 os id, and imprest cash £lO, makes up the balance.
