ALL SAINTS’ SUNDAY SCHOOL.

The children of the above Sunday school received their prizes on Thursday evening last. The vicar explained that Advent began a new year in the Church, and also a new year in the Sunday school. He expressed gratitude at the good results of the school, and spoke highly of Mr S. G. Hollington, the superintendent, Mr G. A. Crowe, the treasurer, and the staff of teachers. He urged the children to attend regularly, for the Sunday school was the place where they were taught the truths' of Christianity and the history and doctrine of their ancient church. Mr Hollingtou was called upon by the vicar to give his report for the year. He said that good progress had been made. There were something like no children on the roll, with an average attendance of 90. He spoke in eulogistic terms of the splendid support the teachers gave him, and said the success of the school was owing to their faithful and efficient work. He made an earnest appeal for more teachers, as the classes were too big, and expressed the hope that others would offer for this important work in the Church. The vicar then called on Mr Crowe to give an account of the finances of the Sunday school. Mr Crowe pointed out that there was always a financial side, and he was there to explain what had been done with the money. He submitted a balance-sheet, which was very satisfactory, showing, a margin of something over ,£1 alter paying all expenses. He said he had a suggestion to place before parents: it was that if each family contributed threepence each Sunday, the Sunday school would be self supporting, and they would be able to help the live missions of the Church, as well as themselves. During the evening Mr R. T. Betty gave a number of items on his gramophone, which were highly appreciated by both adults and children. The dux of the whole school was Willie Crowe, who attained the highest possible marks. The following children were given prizes, who reached the required standard.
