METHODIST CHURCH.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. The anniversary services in connection with the local Methodist Church Sunday School were held on Sunday last. The children sang in a very pleasing manner. The church was nicely decorated for the occasion and special sermons were preached at the three services bv the Rev. T. Coatsworth, At the afternoon service Irene Stiles and Muriel Daniel recited the “Ten Commandments,” Avis Stiles recited Psalm 23, and Doris Ruback, Psalm 126. At the evening service Master Willie Signal (Miss Honore, accompanist) sang a solo in a pleasing manner. The services throughout the day were most enjoyable. On Monday evening the annual social prize distribution took place, when the. Masonic Hall was nicely filled in spite ot the unfavourable weather; the Rev. T. Coats worth presided. Brief addresses were given by Rev. Crawford (Shannon) and Mr G. Huntley (Superintendent). The children acquitted themselves splendidly and a most enjoyable time was spent. The following programme was rendered: Anthem, Children assisted by Choir; recitation, Irene Stiles; dialogue, “Mr Flutter dresses for the party,” Avis and Irene Stiles, Doris Ruback, Felicia Owen, Walter Walker, Willie Cooper, and James Owen ; recitation, Rita Perreau; recitation, Willie Cooper; Anthem, Children and Choir. The children were trained by Mr Alex. Rimmer and Miss Evans (Organist)jWho received a hearty vote of thanks for their valuable services. Misses Doris Signal and Coatsworth and Mrs Huntley were also thanked for their work in helping the children with their dialogues and recitations. During the evening a travelling bag was presented to Mr G. H. Stiles, as a slight token of the appreciation ot the choir and congregation of his work as organist for a number of years. The Rev. T. Coatsworth, who made the presentation, spoke of the valuable services rendered by the recipient in connection with the service of praise. Mr Stiles briefly replied, thanking the friends for their kind gift, and assuring them that what he had done was prompted with a sincere desire to be of some assistance in connection with the work of the church. The prizes were then distributed by Mr G. Huntley, after which the benediction was pronounced by the chairman. Refreshments were then handed round after which the meeting terminated. The following is the prize list: — Young Women’s Bible Class, Miss E. Rimmer 1, Miss E. Evans 2, Miss G. Jones 3 ; 2nd class girls, essay, Muriel Daniel 1, Avis and Irene Stiles 2 ; class prizes, Muriel Daniel 1, Avis and Irene Stiles 2 ; 3rd class girls, Cris. Honour 1, Rita Perreau 2, Ivy Chalk 3 ; Ist class, boys, E. Walsh 1, W. Kruse 2, H. Pejreau 3; 2nd class, boys, Horace Reid x, Willie Cooper 2, James Owen 3 ; 3rd class, boys, Gordon Perreau 1, Stanley Honour 2, L. Westwood 3 ; 4th class, boys, P. Honour 1, S. Ruback 2, H. Perreau 3.
