LYTTELTON BY-ELECTION.

GOVERNMENT CANDIDATE

CHOSEN.

The Government candidate for the Lyttelton by-election is Mr Malcolm James Miller, a shipbuilder at Lyttelton, and some lime Mayor of the borough. Mr Miller was a close friend of the late member, Mr Laurensou, and although opposed to his general political opinions, was in agreement with him on one question about which Mr Laurenson held uncompromising views, the licensing question. Other candidates mentioned are Mr Voyce, who is president of the transport section of the Federation of Labour, and Mr M’Coomb, another Labour candidate.
