ACCIDENT AT POPLAR MILL.

A serious accident happened to a washer named Prestling at the Poplar mill last night. The.man was employed on the night shift. At about ir o’clock the engine driver aud manager decided that the injured man was not fit to work, aud stopped the engine. When the engine was shut off aud slowing down the unfortunate man came in contact with the driving pulley, and was dragged underand had his scalp and hip badly lacerated. Medical aid was summoned and the wounds dressed, aud the injured man conveyed by motor car to the district hospital. Had the accident happened when the engine was at full speed the man would have been instantly killed. It is not known how he managed to fall against the pulley, and it was only after the engine had stopped that he was found. His injuries are not considered serious.
