PRESENTATION.
In the Council Chamber yesterday afternoon, the Mayor (Mr G, H. Stiles), on behalf of the citizens, made a presentation to Dr Adams, who is leaving Foxton on a two years’ visit to England for the purpose of pursuing his professional studies. There was a representative gathering present. The Mayor said that the citizens desired, before Dr Adams’ departure, to make hitir'a presentation as a mark of appreciation ol bis services to the district as a citizen. During his residence in Foxton, Dr Adams had become a very prominent figure, and no one was better or more favourably known than he was. He had always taken a very keen interest in the welfare of the town and district, and had cheerfully borne his full share of responsibility as a citizen. As a councillor he rendered good service to the town, putting forward his best energies to lurlher its interests. On behalf of the residents of the district, he expressed regret at Dr Adams’ departure, and wished him and Mrs Adams all prosperity. He expressed the hope that on his return from England Dr Adams would again take up his residence in Foxton, or at least that his many friends here would be afforded an opportunity of coming into contact with him from time to time. On behalf of the citizens he handed him an opposum travelling rug. Messrs G. Barber, F. Woods, and J. Chrystall also mads eulogistic references to the interest displayed by Dr and Mrs Adams in the affairs of the towu and district.
Dr Adams feelingly thanked the citizens tor the presentation.
