MUNICIPAL PICTURES. Last Saturday’s programme was one that gave the utmost, satisfaction being of more than the ordinary character. For Wednesday next the programme promises to be one that will please the most fastidious, and can be well recommended to all. The star drama of 2,500 leet, “The Doll,” is one of the greatest, most powerful, yet pathetically tender and truly human dramatic reproductions of real life, which strikes a responsive chord in the hearts of all. It tells how a young step-daughter comes between the love of her mother and step father, and yet ultimately she is beloved by both and she becomes their doll and thtough her they are happ'lThe other dramas aie, •The High Tide of Misfortune,” which is truly fascinating and convincing drama of lite on land and sea, featuring a woman’s courage, wit and endurance ; “The Ranchero’s Revenge,” a really big feature film full of nature and absorbing heart interest. The scenics are, “A Travel in the Caurauses,” a marvellous mountain scenic monarch, one of Pathe’s most particularly delightful pictures ; as is also “Lakeland of Bavaria,” being oue which is rich and rare iu scenic beauty depicting scenes of awe inspiring majesty, alternate with views of peace and everywhere of the solemn forests of which the German’s are so proud. “The N.Z. Animated News,” the inimitable illustrator, is brimful with its interesting record of current events. The comics are, “The Mysterious Mat,” a pictorial puzzle which will be highly interesting to the audience ; “Poor Jones’ Vacation,” is a great merry maker and a laughable tale of holiday time ; “The Stolen Glory,” is an altogether superior film with fine battle scenes picturing the supposed conquests of the captain of the grand army of flirts.
