LEVIN BOWLING CLUB.
NO SUNDAY BOWLING
The Levin Bowling Club has been resuscitated. At the annual meeting held on Monday night, it was stated that the old bowling company went into liquidation, and that the green had been sold to defray liabilities. Rather than see the green cut up, ten gentlemen of Levin had become trustees of the green, and were prepared to hand it back to the townspeople whenever they were prepared to buy it back. In the meantime a club was to be formed, the only liability of members to be the annual subscription of two guineas, the ten trustees undertaking all other liabilities.
A discussion took place on a proposal to rescind the resolution of the trustees against Sunday playing, but the chairman intimated that there could be no reversal of that decision, the trustees decision being final. The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr F. G. Roe : vice-presidents, Messrs John Ryder and Jas. Mclntyre ; match committee, Messrs W. Pyke, W. Jamieson, A. Grover; management committee, Hugh Hall, W. S. Park, H. Lodge, F. G. Roe. The green committee consists of Messrs Ryder and Mclntyre.
