ENTERTAINMENTS.

MUNICIPAL PICTURES,

A large and most enthusiastic audience witnessed the double programme screened last night. Saturday next being the anniversary o£ the opening of the picture entertainments, the management has arranged another extra good programme to commemorate the event. The two star dramas, “The Sun God” and “A Modern Prodigal,” are both films of over 2,000 leet, the former being one ot Pathe's most beautifully coloured films, dealing with the ancient heathen mythology, while the latter is a beautiful picture lucidly disclosing by means of flawless photography and inimitable acting a modern version of the grand old Biblical story of the Prodigal Son. The other dramas are: “In the Usurer’s Grip,” a film that exposes in fearless fashion the nefarious methods of money-lend-ing sharks, and strikes hard at tbe root of an evil which is only too prevalen) in our midst; “The Escape from Prison,” an absorbing and cleverly constructed drama, dealing with the trials and troubles of the poor and lowly, one of its most striking situations being a most ingenious escape from prison by means of a parachute ; “Olaf the Atom,” telling the tale of a wanderer in search of kindness. “The Warwick Chronicle” is a very fine budget of the latest happenings. “Views in Africa” is a scenic depicting life and custom in darkest Africa. “Billiards by Reece” is a film which will be greatly appreciated, no doubt, by all the votaries of the game ot billiards. The comics, “Puzzled,” and “Tweedledum Drives a Nail,” are loth mirth raisers, and in the former the audience will also be puzzled, as well as the personages seen in the film, while the latter is bound to carry the audience to the utmost bounds of enthusiasm. Without doubt the above programme is one of the most attractive yet presented In the Coronation Hall, but being the anniversary of the running of the pictures it has been decided to make a special eSort to give more than value for the price of admission.
