A COMPENSATION CLAIM.
HEAVY DAMAGES. Napier, Sept. 22. The Supreme Court to-day heard the case in which Arthur Joseph Toohill claimed from Robjohn Hindmarsh and Co. ,£I,OOO as compensation for injuries received while employed in the erection of a three-storey building for defendants at Port Ahuriri.
Wire netting had been put over the top storey, and a manhole cut in it. Paper had been put over the manhole, and plaintiff stepped on it, falling right through to the basement.
He was awarded ,£524 12s 3d, less £6s 19s already paid, and costs according to scale.
