CHINAMAN’S DEATH.
A GRUESOME FIND.
Auckland, Sept. 9
A Chinaman. Quang Cheong Pa, eighty-two years of age, was found dead in his bed this morning under unusual circumstances. Neighbours had complained to Mr Haynes, chief sanitary inspector for the city, and, Mr Haynes went to the house this morning, and, getting no reply to his requests for admittance, forced the back door and made his way to the bedroom, where he saw the Chinaman dead on his bed. The police were communicated with, and Constable Woollendale went to the bouse and discovered that the man's body was in a highly decomposed state. From postmarks on letters that had been pushed under the front door, it was obvious that the man had not been about since July 25th, and the indications are that his death occurred about that date. No close examination has yet been possible, though it was noticed there was a pool of blood under the bed. The body was removed to the morgue. Quang was a wellknown Chinese identity of Auckland, and reputed to be worth something over above the value of the property in which he lived. He did no work, and lived alone in the house.
