THE BULB SHOW.
The local Horticultural Society is to be congratulated upon the success of its fourth annual Bulb Show, which is being held in Masonic Hall to day. The entries constitute a record, and the blooms in the various classes are magnificent specimens. There are a number of exhibitors from outside the local area. Several growers have lost some of their best blooms owing to the early season?--and the porous nature of the soil. The blooms in the Citizens’ Trophy class are very fine, and fairly numerous. The total number of entries is 302, which easily constitutes a record, last year’s number being 126, and tbe previous year no. For the Citizens' Trophy there are 13 entries. The judge was Mr Rhodes, of Rata, who, accompanied by Mrs Rhodes, arrived by motor car this morning. The Citizens’ Trophy, value £5 ss, for three distinct varieties of daffodils, three blooms of each, was won by Mrs Galland, and the ' prize lor the champion bloom by Mr H. Witchel!. The full prize list will appear in our next issue. To-night music will be discoursed by the Foxton Borough Baud, and also by Mr Ebbett’s orchestra.
The Show was officially opened at half-past two this afternoon by the President, Mr H. Witchell.
