FOUND DEAD.

Advice was received by the local police on Sunday morning that a man named William Robertson, aged about 65 years, had been found dead in a whare at the Beach.

The body was found by Mr George Watt, who had gone down to take the deceased some food.

An inquest was held yesterday afternoon before the District Coroner, Mr Alf. Fraser, when George Alexander Watt, carrier of Foxton, gave evidence to the effect that he had known deceased since March 4th last. Deceased asked witness for work and he gave him a job about the stable. On the first of June witness disposed of his interest in the stable and had no more work for cfeceasd, who then asked to be allowed to stay in witness’ whare at the Beach. Witness gave him the permission asked for and since that time bad on several occasions taken him food and bad also told Mr Cleland, storekeeper at the Heads, to supply him with anything he required and charge to witness. Dast saw him alive about xo to 12 days ago. Deceased told witness he came from Wan ■ ganui and that he bad a son at Wanganui and one at Napier. Dr. Mandl gave evidence as to rnakiug a- post mortem examination and found that death was due to septic absorption from the bladder. Deceased had been dead from two or three days. Constable Woods stated that in consequence of information received he went to the whare and found deceased lying on the floor partly dressed. From the appearance of the body he was of opinion that deceased had fallen out of bed. In deceased’s clothing lie found a pocket book in which were two addresses, lip to the present be had been unable to find any relatives of deceased. There was a pleulilul supply of food iu the cottage.

The Coroner returned a verdict that death was due to septic poisoning iu accordance with the medical evidence.
