THE SHANNON SCHEME
MR CHENERY SUGGATE TO REPORT.,
A special meeting of the Foxton Borough Council was held last night to appoint an engineer to furnish a report on a water and drainage scheme from the Shannon hills. There were present : His Worship the Mayor (G. H. Stiles Esq.,) and Crs. Speirs, Coley, Chrystall, Whibley, Green, Freeman, Read. Henderson and Barber.
Offers for furnishing reports were received from the following engineers: Messrs W. J. Mansfield, Auckland ; C. Laing - Meason, Wellington; Henry H. Melcalfe and Son, Auckland; L. G. P. Spencer, Te Kuiti; R. S. Routhwaite, Wellington ; Chenery Suggate, Auckland; and H. W. Climie, Hastings. Mr Chenery Suggate also attended the meeting and explained several matters in connection with the proposed scheme. After some discussion it was decided on the motion of Cr Barber, seconded by Cr Chrystall, that Mr Chenery Suggata’s tender for furnishing a water by gravitation and artesian with air compression and sewerage scheme tor the sum of stated be accepted.
