Wellington, August 21.

Owing to the continual heavy expenditure involved in connection with the Otaki Sanatorium, the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to-day decided to ask the Government for a special subsidy upon the expenditure, in addition to the ordinary subsidy. It was stated that the cost during the six years the Sanatorium had been open was ,£23,000, while the fees collected only totalled leaving a deficit of £2 r,ooo. Each patient was estimated to cost the Hospital Board
