TOWN CLERK’S REPORT.

The Town Clerk reported at Monday night’s Council meeting as follows:

“During the past month the Council’s men have been mostly employed on the concrete kerbing in the Avenue. The kerb is now finished and as soon as the foothpath is completed the work authorised in Harbour Street will be put in hand. Patching has been done in Park Road and Russel Street, and the water let off Harbour Street in places. The work of removing the knob in Moutoa Road has been satisfactorily done by the contractor. Grass seed will be sown on the soil at the side and some metal put down to keep the traffic off the strainer post. The cemetery could do with the men when they can be spared for a day or two. In connection with the cemetery I would suggest that the Council have some of the cemetery reserve plotted off and stop the burials in the present cemetery and when the new part is laid off I would recommend that graves be sold in lines as laid off so as to .have some semblance of order as to the rows of graves,”
