TOWN HALL LIGHTING.
A letter was read from Messrs Thomas Ballinger and Co., Ltd. at last night’s Council meeting, asking for balance due on con* tract in connection with the installation of electric light at the Town Hall. The contractors pointed out that the balance had been withheld pending the remedying of some defects. These had now been attended to and they therefore asked for the balance due.
It was stated that the lights were not working satisfactorily, and that it would be good policy to have the work passed by an expert before paying over the balance to the contractors.
It was moved by Cr Freeman, seconded by Cr Crystall and carried, that an expert be asked to report on the electric lighting of Town Hall before the account of Thomas Ballinger be passed for payment, and that Mr Kirkland be appointed to inspect the installation thoroughly at a fee not exceeding £3 3s.
