HAYWARD’S PICTURES.

At the Royal to-night, the famous film “ The Black Mask,” will be shown in addition to the programme already advertised. Monday’s programme has not yet come to hand but it will be equally as attractive as any yet shown.

SKATING. The Municipal Skating Rink will be open for two sessions next week, viz., Monday the 4th and Thursday the 7th insts. and the usual practice will be held from 7to 7,30. On Thursday night the ladies have decided to play a hockey match which will take place at 8.30. and the ladies de* sirous of playing will kindly hand their names to the manager on Monday night and sides will be chosen. On Thursday, the 14th August, the grand hockey tournament will be played for a set of medals, presented by the Mayor and Councillors. The week following, Thursday, August 21st, the Grand Fancy and Poster Dress Carnival will be held and valuable prizes will be given for all events. The judging will be decided by popular vote, and the audience will be the judges. The small amount of sixpence will be charged for admission to hockey tournament, and a good night's amusement is guaranteed.
