£lO WANTED.

FOR THE SCHOOL LIBRARY. The local State School Committee deeply appreciate the kindly iuterest displayed by parents and the public in the welfare of the scholars attending the school, and which they have practically demonstrated on so many occasions. We desire to make a further appeal to their generosity for the sum of for the purpose of purchasing books for the school library, and to gain the £ for £ subsidy on same offered by the Education Department. Mr Gabites, the second assistant, has started the nucleus of a library, and has been working quietly and modestly to provide suitable books for the improvement ol the scholars minds in their spare time at home. The few books so provided have been greatly appreciated by the scholars, but it is necessary to get a wider range of wholesome and educational literature if the library is to be a success, and this cannot be done unless parents and the public provide the sinews of war. In order to obtain the subsidy we make an appeal for and we anticipate a hearty response. Donations will be acknowledged in these columns, and may be paid at this office or to Mr Gabites. Careful attention will be given to the selection of the literature. Now what can you afford ?
