“He seems to think I am bound to 1 maintain him” saida Plaistow woman at West Ham, where ber son, William Thomas Wright, aged twenty-nine, was charged with being drunk and disorderly, Mr J. H. Jackson (the clerk) : Maintain him at twenty-nine ! That is his idea.
Mr Jackson : He looks as though he was born tired. The Prisoner : I’ve been in the Army and I had a good character there.
Mr Jackson: Well, stand up like a soldier.
Mr Gillespie (the magistrate) : I’ll give him a change of diet. He will go to gaol for twenty-one days. The Prisoner ; Thank you, mother.
The Mother : You are quite welcome.
