FOOTBALL.
A meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held on Wednesday night, when the lollowing members were present: Messrs J. Procter (chairman), D, Green, W. Broughton, Moreland and Gustofson. A letter was received from the Taranaki Rugby Uniou, informing this Union that it was too early to say whether or not it would be possible to give this Union a match against their B team. The protest of the Weraroa Football Club against the referee in the Foxton-Weraroa match, played at Foxton, was considered. Mr Desmond attended in person. The protest said that Foxton had played offside, and Weraroa had been awarded a Iree kick. They thereupon asked for a scrum at the place where the ball was kicked from. According to Weraroa, Wi ot their team was ordered off, and the free kick awarded to Foxton. This, according to the rulea, is wrong, as a referee is not allowed to alter his decisions. Mr Desmond, referee, said that no such thiug had occurred during the match, and the Union decided to uphold the referee.
It was resolved at the meeting to play three rounds for both the senior and junior competitions.
