Cr Whibley pointed out ■ that there
were other unfenced sections in
Main Street, and it was not fair to pick out one property owner and make him put up a fence and leave the others alone. They should all be treated alike. The Mayor agreed that if one were to be made to put up a fence. ! hey should make them all do it. Cr Freeman said the section in question was in the centre of -the :tpwn, and
certainly should be fenced. It did
not matter so much about sections
that were not in such prominent positions. Cr Speirs said that sometimes a 'particular unfenced
section would become a nuisance on account of it being a dumping ground for rubbish. It did not~ always apply’that because one section required to be fenced the whole lot should. The motion,
on being put, was earned, the voting being: For, Cra Freeman, Barber, Henderson, Speirs, Read and Coley, against: The Mayor and Crs WhihUy, Green and Chrystall. It was decided that a lamp be placed at the corner of Main and
Whyte Streets. The drain in Reeve Street is to be cleaned out from the concrete culvert to the upper end as soon as the gorse is grubbed out.
