THE INDRABARAH.
REFLOATING OPERATIONS UNSUCCESSFUL. The heavy wind and seas on Saturday considerably changed the prospects for the release of the Indrabarah. On Saturday the sea ran high, and placed an enormous strain upon the cables by which the steamer was hauling herself out seawards. Being broadside on, she was receiving the full force of the waves, which broke right over her. The cables parted with a report like the discharge of a cannon, and gradually the steamer drifted inshore again. On Sunday she was in the same position which she had occupied for the past three weeks. If anything, she is rather nearer the shore —a hundred yards away at most. A line was posted ashore, and communication maintained by travelling basket.
All that is wanted for a successful refloating is favourable weather. The fact that the attempt just made has been only frustrated by the vagaries of the weather makes refloating almost a certainty on the next spring tides.
