ANOTHER APPOINTMENT
Mr Pedder, of Temuka, who was recently appointed Town Clerk of Foxton out of 55 applicants, hasi since the appointment, notified the Borough Council that he has been offered a good position in Timaru at a higher salary than that offered by the Council, and as the position in that town would suit him better than the local oue he had decided to accept it and would, therefore, be unable to take up the duties of Town Clerk". A special meeting of the Council was called to consider the position and Mr C. J. Kent-John-ston was appointed. Mr Johnston will take up his duties as soon after the 9th inst. as possible.
