The Foxtou and Weraroa junior teams met on the local racecourse on Saturday last, the game resulting in a win for Foxton by 6 points to nil. Special interest was attached to the match by Weraroa holding the reputation of being an unbeaten team. The game was stubbornly contested throughout, and the first spell ended without either side scoring. In the second spell Foxton set up a strong attack, the forwards working particularly well. Half-way through the spell their efforts were rewarded by a try. secured by Robinson. Williams failed to convert. Weraroa, undaunted by this reverse, immediately attacked, and rushed the ball towards Foxton’s Hue, where a scramble ensued. Weraroa were doing their utmost to even matters. After several scrums on the line, Neville successfully torced for Foxton. From the kick-out Foxtou transferred the play to their opponents’ territory, and securing a mark, added to their score by Howe goaling. Foxtou 6, Weraroa 0. Shortly alter time sounded without additional score. Mr J. Desmond controlled the game. A Weraroa player was ordered off, after repeated warnings, for disputing the referee’s decision.
