FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

MR HENNESSY RE-ELECTED

CHAIRMAN.

A meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held on Tuesday evening, when there were present : Messrs Hennessy, Gardener, Barber and Jenks. An apology for absence was received from Mr N ash.

The secretary announced the results of the recent elections and asked the members present to elect a chairman- On the motion of Mr Gardener seconded by Mr Jenks, Mr Hennessy was re-elected to the position. Mr Hennessy thanked the members for the honour conferred on him, and expressed the hope that during the coming term the Board would be more successful in connection with the acquiring ot the wharf than had been the case in the past. No tenders were received for the lease ot sections at the Beach and Messrs Hennessy and Jenks were appointed to deal with any applications which may be made for same.

The secretary reported that a bank was forming at the wharf where the Queen ot the South usually berths and that Messrs Levin and Co. had communicated with the Railway Department asking that it should be removed, but the Department had replied advising that the river was under the control of the Harbour Board and the matter should be referred to thafbody. It was decided to notify Messrs Levin and Co. that the matter was receiving the consideration of the Board and to forward the correspondence to the General Manager of Railways.

An application from Mr Bennett for permission to transfer portion ci his section at the Beach to Mr Bayly was refused, as the Board would not sanction any sub division of sections. F ' obstacle, however, would be placed in th<=* way of Mr Jv ‘-nett if he desired to transfer the whole section. A letter was read from Mr E. Newman M.P., stating that he would do his best to be present at meeting to be held in Palmerston North on the 22nd instant. Matters in connection with the meeting to be held at Palmerston North were discussed and the meeting terminated.
