NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA.

RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT.

Auckland, May 9. The Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, New Zealand Customs Minister, returned to New Zealand by the steamer Niagara to-day. On being interviewed he said the reciprocal agreement was signed but no details were available at present. They had to be considered by the Australian and New Zealand cabinets and then submitted to the two Parliaments. He had also entered into a joint pensions scheme. For the purpose of awarding pensions, residence in either country would be deemed to be residence in the country where the applicant resided for twelve months preceding the application. He also endeavoured to make au agreement covering the circulation of Australian silver in New Zealand.
