HOME RULE.
Archbishop Redwood, who has just returned to New Zealand from a trip to the Old Land, in an interview with a Post representative, referring to Home Rule, said what was being stated about the attitude of Ulster was a pack of nonsense. The Archbishop was entertained at Bellamy’s by the leaders of the Irish Party, who were loud in their praise of New Zealand, which, in proportion to its population, had contributed more than any other country to the Home Rule fund. The tide of emigration from Ireland had fallen somewhat, but was still high. However, it was anticipated that when Home Rule becomes an established fact, as there was every reason to believe it would be shortly, Irishmen would, in Archbishop Redw’ood’s opinion, stay in Ireland.
