BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL meeting:
A special meeting of the newlyelected Borough Council was held in the Council Chamber last night. The Returning Officer announced the result of the recent election and the Mayor and Crs Chrystall, Coley. Whibley, Read, Freeman, Barber, Speirs and Green made the statutory declarations and took their seats. The chief business of the meeting was to consider the matter of inviting applications for the position of Town Clerk and the Council went into committee to discuss the matter. ; On resuming business the Hollowing resolution was passed on the motion of Cr Chrystall seconded by Cr Barber : that applications be invited for the position ot Town Clerk of the Borough of Foxton, at a salary of per annum, to carry out the same duties as Mr Fraser is at present carrying out._ The meeting decided on the papers in which the advertisement, inviting applications, is to be inserted. Applications are to close on the 19th instant and the successful applicant must be prepared to commence his duties on June 9th,
