SATURDAY’S RESULTS
Seniors.
Otaki (S) v. Foxton (6). Levin-W., (12) v. Hui Mai (5). Koputaroa (16) v. Kimberley (xi).
Juniors. Weraroa (28) v. Levin-W., (0). Tokomaru (6) v. Shannon (6). Koputaroa forfeited to Foxton.
Hui Mai forfeited to Taiuui.
OTAKI v. FOXTON.
This game was played at Tevin and proved a very interesting one, Foxton surprising those present by their good showing. Foxton were stronger than Otaki in the forwards, but Otaki made up for it by the fine play of their backs. After a hard and exciting tussle Otaki won by 8 points to 6. Mr J. Smith controlled the game. I/EVIN-W-, v. HUI MAI. The above teams met at Manakau. There was a fair attendance of spectators and the game, on the whole, was of a very interesting nature. After a hard struggle Levin-W. won by 12 points to 5. Hr Thomas gave satisfaction with the whistle.
KOPUTAROA v. KIMBERLEY-
This match took place on the Levin racecourse in the presence of a fair number of spectators. Neither of these teams was represented by their full strength, but notwithstanding this, the game proved interesting, and after a splendid contest Koputaroa won by 16 points to n. Mr W. Broughton was referee. WERAROA v. LEVIN-W. This game proved a walk over for Weraroa, winning easily by 28 points to nil. The display was miserable throughout. Mr J. Rose held the whistle. TOKOMARU v. SHANNON. This match was played at Shannon and was very evenly contested throughout, the ball being first at one end and then at the other. When no-time was sounded honours were even, each team having scored six points each. Mr F. Foster acted as referee.
The* local juniors were disappointed that the Koputaroa team did not put in an appearance, thus Foxtou won by default. However, they played a practice match and some excellent form was shown by some of the players and they should give a good account of themselves next Saturday when they meet Levin-Wanderers at Levin.
Next Saturday the local junior team is drawn to meet LeviuWanderers at Levin. The team will be selected from the following: O’Rlelly (2), J. Hennessy, Howe, Irwin, Spring, B. Hooker, Currie, Williams, W. Neville, Meyer, W. Baker, Bnrnett, Matthew, Rouse, Watson, Gascoigne. Those unable to travel are requested to notify the secretary. In picking future teams preference will be given to those players who roll up on Saturday. All players should make a point of going on the field in the club’s registered colours, blue and white.
The Native team to tour Australia has been selected, and will assemble at Rotorua on the 26th inst. The team includes N. Winiata and Sciasda, ot the Horowhenua Union.
