Yesterday it was reported to the police that the dead body of Ellen Bowen, fifty-eight years of age, had been found in Waverley Private Hotel, Marion St., Wellington. Mrs Bowen, a widow, first went to the place about six weeks ago. She stayed there .a month, went to Christchurch, and returned during the past week or so. As she had hot been seen during yesterday morning, nor at dinner time, a housemaid went to her room, but iound the door locked. No response was made to knocks, so the lock was removed, and ingress thus obtained to the room. A boarder found the deceased lying on the floor in her night attire, dead.
