ANOTHER SHUNTING FATALITY.

Christchurch, April 20

John Poppelwell, a shunter at Mina railway station, near Cheviot, between 17 and years of age, single, whilst engaged in shunting operations yesterday afternoon was knocked down by a truck which passed over his left arm and leg, almost severing them from the body. He was brought to town and taken to the hospital at 7.30 p.m. in a collapsed state.

Soon afterwards he became unconscious and died at p.m. The Coroner, in adjourning the inquest till Wednesday, drew the attention of the representative of the Railway Department to the fact that deceased was represented by counsel, which indicated that an attitude adverse to the department would be probably taken up.
