FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
A meeting" of the Foxton Harbour Board was held at Palmerston North on Thursday afternoon. Present: Messrs Hennessy . (chairman), Nash, Barber, and ' Gibbs. An apology for absence was received from Mr Gardener. The annual balance sheet was submitted by the Treasurer (Mr Bock) and adopted subject to andit. This discloses sl satisfactory position, the year ending with a credit balance of £465 8s 3d. The receipts for the year, including the balance brought forward, £261 8s Bd, amounted to ,£936 3? 2d, -. made up of pilotage £337 is gd, wharfage £l7 17s, river lighting £73 ios, Te Wharangi rents £llO is 3d, sanatorium rents ,£lB 10s, reserves ,£75, flaxmill sites £24, wharves £ll xos, telephone £6 1 os, and lease forms 14s 6d. The expenditure totalled £470 14 ixd, , .comprised of pilot’s department ' £283 7s 7d, secretary £SO, office rent, telephone, printing, insurance etc., £3O 4s sd, legal expenses £46 is 6d, travelling expenses £2B 3s, Chairman’s honorarium £25 and sundries £7 18s sd. The Secretary reported that the 1 amount to the Board’s credit at the - Bank ' of New Zealand was £563 ros. The receipts since January xst being : pilotage £9O 19s, river lighting etc. £2l, rents £IOO and contributions to toad £29 7s. The expenditure during . that period was: Harbourmaster £66 13 4d, labour £2 83, benzine, kerosene, and repairs £24 9s 3d, telephone £9153, Foxton Borough £l2 xos, rent of Office, etc £9 xxs 4b, legal expenses £4 4s, and secretary , £l6 13s 4d. An application for transfer of section from James Tennant to \ W. G. C. Smith was approved. A letter was received from Mr Jas. Senior applying for permission to fence portion of the Board’s ground at the Heads for use as a horse paddock, and offering to pay ah annual rental for same.—lt was decided to reply advising that tenders would be invited to be iq by the next meeting. The matter of sections leased and not built upon was left in the hands of the Chairman to-deal with. Mr P: E. Dauiell wrote, applying for a reduction in the amount of license for motor launch and the matter was left to the secretary and chairman to deal with. nMr C. Small’s tender of £l, for ' the-purchase of an Old boat was accepted. On the - motion of Mr Nash, seconded by Mr Barber, the secretary’s salary was increased by £lO per annum as from April Ist. A vote of thanks was passed to the Palmerston North and Foxton Borough Councils for the use of ibeir rooms fof meetings.
