SHANNON NOTES.

Mr Scott-Bennett addressed' a public meeting in the Druids’ Hall on Monday evening on matters connected with the forthcoming conference to be held, in July .in Wellington, for the purpose of amalgamating the Federation of Labour and United Labour Party. The address was somewhat interrupted by the presence of several gentlemen in a more or less intoxicated condition, otherwise the meeting was orderly. An unanimous resolution was carried that the citizens of Shannon combine for the purpose of bringing about the amalgamation of all the? labour organisations. Mr Lind occupied the chair. Supper was provided by the ladies.

During the interval at the pictures on Wednesday, the sum of Shannon Dramatic Society by the late staging of the “Private Secretary,” was handed over by Mr Perry to Mr Lind, one of the trustees of the Shannon Recreation Ground. Mr Lind said that it made the second sum of over £lO donated by the Society, for which he thanked them on behalf of the trustees, and that they expected to have the pavilion erected within a year. All the school children are looking forward to the visit to the battleship. The Moutoa children are also taking piart in the trip.
