FOOTBALL.

The meeting of footballers adjourned from the previous week was held in the Manawatu Hotel on Thursday evening. There was an attendance of about 14 and Mr P. Lumsden was vo'.ed to the chair.

Those present were very enthusiastic and it was decided to again take part in the Horowhenua Union’s competition, and to nominate both a senior and a junior team. Mr George Coley accepted the position of patron of the club, aud Mr Percy Lumsden was elected president. The secretary was instructed to write to a number of prominent citizens and supporters of the game asking them to accept the office of vice-presidents. The other officers were elected as follows : Secretary, Mr S. G. Gascoigne ; treasurer, Mr J. R. Hynes; selection committee, Messrs D. Green, E. Wanklyn and the captain of the senior team ; management committee, Messrs J. Hurley, J. Baylis, E. Dunn aud O- Cook ; delegates to Horowhenua Union, Messrs D. Green, J. Baylis and E. Wanklyn. The election of captain and vice-captain was held over. It was decided that the colours be the same as previously, blue and white, and the subscription was fixed at 5s for seniors and 2s 6d for juniors. It was decided that a fancy dress match be played on the Racecourse on Saturday, the 19th instant, arrangements in connection with which are to be made by the committee.

The question of establishing a gymnasium was brought up and discussed at length. Mr George Coley mentioned that the building used by Mr Stiles as temporary premises bad been placed under offer to the club, and the question of providing a site was gone into. It was pointed out that if the matter was taken up seriously a good deal of support from prominent residents would be forthcoming. The matter was eventually left in the hands ot Messrs Coley and Green who were authorised to act on behalf of the club.

The meeting terminated after passing a vote of thanks to the chair.
